Your passport to adventure and the underwater world awaits you. We aim to provide the highest level of training, and that starts with our small class sizes (maximum student-instructor ratio of 5:1 or 4:1 if you have a 10-11yr old in class) and highly-trained instructors. We offer e-learning for the knowledge development phase of your certification.

Additionally, you will also have the option to upgrade your open water package. Adding some of the most popular and useful specialties to your Open Water Course experience at a deal of a price.

Silver Package Information

Includes the Open Water Course and the Project Aware Specialty Certification. This is our basic economical package when chosen as the semi-private 5 student class option. You not only come away with your PADI Open Water Certification that is valid anywhere in the world for a lifetime, you also get your first Specialty Certification, Project Aware.

This certification gives you the 10 Tips you can do as a new diver to help keep our oceans a healthy environment that divers can enjoy for generations to come. At Maui Diving, you’ll finish your Open Water Course in two days instead of the typical three or more at other places.

If your trip is long enough, make use of that third day and gain more diving experience under the watchful eye of a dive instructor and +Upgrade your Silver Bundle to include the most popular Mala Pier Plus dive day after class!

Gold Package Information

Includes everything listed above in the Silver Bundle with the added value of a Peak Performance Buoyancy (PPB) workshop performed in your Open Water class! This takes no extra time at all. You and your instructor perform the PPB workshop skills congruently in open water dives 2, 3 or 4 on day two of class.

The PPB workshop improves the buoyancy skills you learned as a new diver and elevates them to the next level. Learning to hover effortlessly, achieving neutral buoyancy, and using less weight, ultimately reduces the amount of air you consume, making all your future dives longer and more enjoyable. This workshop pulls double duty and serves as credit on your first of two dives in the PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty dive 1 of 2!

Don’t forget, you’ll finish your Open Water Course in two days instead of the typical 3 day course at other places. Make use of that third day and gain more diving experience under the watchful eye of a dive instructor and +Upgrade your Gold Bundle to include the most popular Mala Pier Plus dive day after class! Platinum Package Information

Includes everything listed above in the Gold Bundle with the added value of THE most popular PADI Specialty called Enriched Air (Nitrox) Diver also known as Nitrox Certification.

What is enriched air? Enriched air or Nitrox is a blend of air that has higher oxygen content then the 21% oxygen we normally breathe. Breathing Nitrox has many benefits. Five major benefits of nitrox: Safety, extended bottom time, shorter surface intervals, longer repetitive dive times, and reduced exhaustion. This is the key certification (other than Advanced Open Water) that will help you enjoy your time on a dive vacation.

When you start doing 4 dives a day over 5 or 6 days, the nitrogen build up in your system can begin affecting your no deco limits on your dive time quite noticeably, taking your bottom time from 50-60 minutes down to 20-30 minutes. You’ll do the eLearning for this at home and have a quick in person analyzing session with your instructor right before (or after) your Open Water Class day 2.

Don’t forget you can +Upgrade this bundle with a 3rd dive day to pack in the MOST fun dives on the island. Make use of that third day and gain more diving experience under the watchful eye of a dive instructor and +Upgrade your Gold Bundle to include the most popular Mala Pier Plus dive day after class! This course is executed in two days and consists of:

Learn the lingo! During the first phase of your PADI Open Water Diver scuba certification you'll develop an understanding of the basic principles of scuba diving. You learn things like how pressure affects your body, how to choose the best gear and what to consider when planning dives in order to have fun while staying safe. Your study resources are included in the PADI eLearning program which can be taken at your own pace, anytime, anywhere. The five knowledge development sections at the end of each one of the five chapters must be completed prior to your classroom session. Once you are done with your independent study, you are ready to begin your classroom and water sessions at the dive shop. You should have a course scheduled already, but if not, now is the time to lock in your spot!

   Classroom and confined water sessions

You should be prepared to do a quick review of the eLearning in the classroom, as well as have your first hands-on session with your dive gear for the duration of the course. The Project Aware Specialty will be taught in the classroom before or after the water sessions, depending on the day. During your confined water session you’ll get to learn how to set up your diving equipment, clear your mask of water, hover and several other important and fun skills. The skills learned in confined water sessions will prepare you to dive in a variety of open water environments. Our confined open water sessions, commonly referred to as “the pool work” are taught in the ocean. No pool time required in Maui!

Your tuition includes all of your rental gear such as your exposure suit, your BCD, and your regulator, mask, snorkel, and fins. It is our recommendation and experience that it's more fun, more comfortable, and more conducive to efficetnt learning when you have a mask that fits your face perfectly! So, If you don’t already own a mask, boots, fins, and snorkel, you can purchase them from our wide array of top notch gear at our dive shop in Lahaina or Kihei when you come by to check in with us.

   Days two and three: Checkout dives
During this portion of your training you will have already been in the ocean and diving Hawaii’s splendid blue waters! You’ll get comfortable at first to a maximum depth of 20 feet, and progress to dives of a maximum depth of up to 60 feet, though 35-45 ft is generally the maximum of dive sites we attend around Maui. It is spread over two days of diving, each day consisting of confined and open water checkout dives! You take all of the skills you’ve learned in the classroom & confined water and apply them to real life conditions. Once you’ve successfully demonstrated your skills in the ocean over the four dives, you are ready to receive your certification card! Dive number four of your Open Water Class can double as your first dive of Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty! Giving you a head start towards furthering your education. Add on just one more dive after class and you can have your Buoyancy mastered and one specialty under your belt. That’s one less dive you have to do for your Advanced Open Water (5 Dives) and 1 of 4 Specialties required for the PADI Master Scuba Diver rating.

Course Structure

Your passport to adventure and the underwater world awaits you. We aim to provide the highest level of training, and that starts with our small class sizes (maximum student-instructor ratio of 5:1 or 4:1 if you have a 10-11yr old in class) and highly-trained instructors. We offer e-learning for the knowledge development phase of your certification.

Additionally, you will also have the option to upgrade your open water package. Adding some of the most popular and useful specialties to your Open Water Course experience at a deal of a price.

Silver Package Information
Includes the Open Water Course and the Project Aware Specialty Certification. This is our basic economical package when chosen as the semi-private 5 student class option. You not only come away with your PADI Open Water Certification that is valid anywhere in the world for a lifetime, you also get your first Specialty Certification, Project Aware. This certification gives you the 10 Tips you can do as a new diver to help keep our oceans a healthy environment that divers can enjoy for generations to come. At Maui Diving, you’ll finish your Open Water Course in two days instead of the typical three or more at other places. Gold Package Information
Includes everything listed above in the Silver Bundle with the added value of a Peak Performance Buoyancy (PPB) workshop performed in your Open Water class! This takes no extra time at all. You and your instructor perform the PPB workshop skills congruently in open water dives 2, 3 or 4 on day two of class. The PPB workshop improves the buoyancy skills you learned as a new diver and elevates them to the next level. Learning to hover effortlessly, achieving neutral buoyancy, and using less weight, ultimately reduces the amount of air you consume, making all your future dives longer and more enjoyable. This workshop pulls double duty and serves as credit on your first of two dives in the PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty dive 1 of 2! Platinum Package Information
Includes everything listed above in the Gold Bundle with the added value of THE most popular PADI Specialty called Enriched Air (Nitrox) Diver also known as Nitrox Certification. What is enriched air? Enriched air or Nitrox is a blend of air that has higher oxygen content then the 21% oxygen we normally breathe. Breathing Nitrox has many benefits. Five major benefits of nitrox: Safety, extended bottom time, shorter surface intervals, longer repetitive dive times, and reduced exhaustion. This is the key certification (other than Advanced Open Water) that will help you enjoy your time on a dive vacation. When you start doing 4 dives a day over 5 or 6 days, the nitrogen build up in your system can begin affecting your no deco limits on your dive time quite noticeably, taking your bottom time from 50-60 minutes down to 20-30 minutes. You’ll do the eLearning for this at home and have a quick in person analyzing session with your instructor right before (or after) your Open Water Class day 2.    Knowledge Development:
At home study

Learn the lingo! During the first phase of your PADI Open Water Diver scuba certification you'll develop an understanding of the basic principles of scuba diving. You learn things like how pressure affects your body, how to choose the best gear and what to consider when planning dives in order to have fun while staying safe. Your study resources are included in the PADI eLearning program which can be taken at your own pace, anytime, anywhere. The five knowledge development sections at the end of each one of the five chapters must be completed prior to your classroom session. Once you are done with your independent study, call us to book your classroom and confined water sessions.

   Day One: Classroom and confined water sessions

You should be prepared to do a quick review of the e-Learning in the classroom, as well as have your first hands-on session with your dive gear for the duration of the course. The Project Aware Specialty will be taught in the classroom before or after the water sessions, depending on the day. During your confined water session you’ll get to learn how to set up your diving equipment, clear your mask of water, hover and several other important and fun skills. The skills learned in confined water sessions will prepare you to dive in a variety of open water environments. Our confined open water sessions, commonly referred to as “the pool work” are taught in the ocean. No pool time required in Maui!

Your tuition includes all of your rental gear such as your exposure suit, your BCD, and your regulator, mask, snorkel, and fins. It is our recommendation and experience that it's more fun, more comfortable, and more conducive to efficetnt learning when you have a mask that fits your face perfectly! So, If you don’t already own a mask, boots, fins, and snorkel, you can purchase them from our wide array of top notch gear at our dive shop in Lahaina or Kihei when you come by to check in with us.

   Days two and three:
Checkout dives
During this portion of your training you finally get to go to the ocean and dive Hawaii’s splendid blue waters! You’ll get comfortable at first to a maximum depth of 40 feet, and progress to dives of a maximum depth of 60 feet. It is spread over two days of diving, each day consisting of two checkout dives! You take all of the skills you’ve learned in the classroom & confined water and apply them to real life conditions. Once you’ve successfully demonstrated your skills in the ocean over the four dives, you are ready to receive your certification card!
