Green turtles prefer to live near their primary food source limu or the “Hawaiian seaweed” (algae). Limu is primarily located in coastal waters, making a green sea turtle encounter common.
These turtles, which can grow to weights of up to 400 pounds, must surface to breathe every few minutes while active. But, while resting, they can remain underwater for an astonishing 2 1/2 hours! During the periods of rest, the Green Sea Turtles can often be found relaxing in caves and under ledges in deeper water.
Join Maui Diving for an experience of a lifetime with the endemic Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles. We guarantee turtles or your next dive is *free!
